Bobble Kick is a 2-player arcade soccer game. Two big-headed players guard their own half, bounce the ball with their body, and kick it toward the open goal. First to five wins. Play a friend on the same keyboard, or take on the computer at three difficulty levels.

It is a self-built game made by PlayClick, our own take on the arcade sports format. It is not affiliated with any other soccer game or brand, and it uses our own characters and code. It runs right in your browser with no sign-up and no download, so it plays the same on a school Chromebook as it does at home.

How to play

Each player stays on their own half of the pitch and cannot cross the middle, so it is all about timing your jumps and kicks. Move under the ball, jump to head it, and press kick when the ball is at your feet to send it flying toward the goal.

The trick is that the ball bounces off you relative to how you are moving. Stand still and you cushion it. Jump into it and you launch it. That means a well-timed jumping header sends the ball much harder than a standing tap, which is how you clear your own goal and fire one into theirs.

A goal counts when the ball crosses the line under the crossbar. After each goal the ball resets to the middle with a short countdown, then you are back in play. First to five goals takes the match.

Controls

Player 1 uses A and D to move, W to jump, and S to kick. Player 2, in two-player mode, uses the arrow keys to move and jump, and the down arrow to kick.

On a phone or tablet, on-screen buttons appear at the bottom corners: a left and right pad, a jump button, and a kick button, so you can play with no keyboard at all. In one-player mode only your side shows its buttons.

One note for two players on a laptop: some cheaper keyboards drop keys when several are held at once, which can make simultaneous moves feel sticky. Using A, D, W, S against the arrow keys keeps that to a minimum, and touch controls or two devices avoid it entirely.

One player or two

In one-player mode you face the computer. Pick Easy, Medium, or Hard from the buttons above the pitch. Easy reacts slowly and misjumps often, so it is a gentle warm-up. Hard reads the ball fast, jumps on cue, and rarely whiffs, so you will need clean kicks and smart clears to beat it.

Two-player mode is the main event: both players share one keyboard, one on each side, racing to five. It is quick to pick up and hard to put down, which is what makes a quick sports game a staple of a spare five minutes.

Switch modes or difficulty at any time from the buttons, and hit rematch after a win to run it back.

Tips to win

Do not chase every ball to the ground. A jumping header usually beats a ground kick because it adds your upward jump to the ball, so time your leap to meet the ball high and it rockets away.

Guard your goal first. If the ball is bouncing near your line, clear it upward and toward the middle before you think about scoring. A ball sitting in your half is a goal waiting to happen for the other side.

Use the walls and crossbar. The ball bounces off the posts and the ceiling, so a kick angled off the top of the goal frame can drop in from above where a flat shot would be blocked. Mix flat kicks with high looping ones and the computer, or your friend, will misjudge the bounce.

Questions and answers

What is Bobble Kick?

It is a 2-player arcade soccer game where two big-headed players bounce and kick a ball into the goal. First to five wins. You can play a friend on the same keyboard or take on the computer. It is PlayClick's own game, not affiliated with any other soccer game or brand.

How do I play two players?

Pick 2 Players above the pitch. Player 1 uses A, D, W, and S. Player 2 uses the arrow keys to move and jump and the down arrow to kick. Both share one keyboard, one on each side.

Can I play it on my phone?

Yes. On a touch screen, on-screen buttons appear at the bottom corners for moving, jumping, and kicking, so you can play with no keyboard. In one-player mode only your side shows its controls.

How do I score?

Get the ball across the goal line under the crossbar on the other side. Jumping headers hit harder than standing kicks because your upward motion adds to the ball, so time your leaps to launch it toward the open goal.

Is it free and does it work unblocked?

Yes. The game is free, needs no sign-up, and runs fully in your browser, so it plays the same on a school or work network as anywhere else. There is nothing to download or install.
