Canyon Coaster is an endless canyon runner. Ride a cart down red-rock hills, build speed on the descents, and jump the canyon gaps in your way. Time your jump at each edge and clear it, or drop into the ravine and the run is over. There is no finish, just how deep into the canyon you can get.

It is a self-built game made by PlayClick, our own take on the gap-jumping runner. It is not affiliated with any other runner or cart game, and it uses our own art and code. It runs right in your browser with no sign-up and no download, so it plays the same on a school Chromebook as it does at home.

How to play

The cart runs on its own and never stops. Hold dive to press down the hills and build speed, since more speed carries your jumps farther.

When a canyon comes up, tap jump right at the edge to leap across. Land anywhere on the far side and keep rolling. Do not jump, or jump way too early, and you drop into the gap, which ends the run.

You do not have to land straight, you just have to reach the other side. The jump is forgiving on exact timing, so if you tap it a moment late as you leave the edge it still fires. The skill is spotting each gap and remembering to jump.

Controls

On a keyboard, tap the Up arrow (or W) to jump the gaps, and hold Space or the Down arrow to dive and build speed down the hills.

On a phone or tablet, use the jump button in the corner to leap, and tap and hold anywhere on the game to dive. Nothing to install and no keyboard needed.

Jump is a tap, not a hold. Time it for the edge of each canyon. The faster you are going, the farther a single jump carries you, so keep your speed up between gaps.

Tips to clear every gap

Watch the ground ahead. A canyon is easy to see coming, so line up your jump for the moment you reach the edge rather than reacting late.

Carry speed into the gaps. Hold dive down the hills so you arrive at each edge fast, because a faster jump covers more of the canyon. A slow, uphill approach is the one that comes up short.

Do not spam jump. Tapping it early on flat ground just wastes the hop and lands you back down before the gap. One clean jump at the edge is all it takes.

Scoring and your best run

Your score is the distance you cover in meters, and your deepest run is saved on your device so you can push it further each time. The gems you grab on the way tally into a lifetime counter across every run.

The hills get taller and the pace picks up the farther you go, so late gaps come at you faster and demand cleaner speed. That is where a long run turns into a real test.

Your best distance sits at the top of the screen the whole time. Beat it, and it updates on the spot.

Questions and answers

What is Canyon Coaster?

It is a free endless runner where you ride a cart down canyon hills and launch across gaps. Land on the far side to keep going, miss and you drop into the ravine. The score is how far you get. It is PlayClick's own game, not affiliated with any other runner or cart game.

How do I clear the gaps?

Tap the Up arrow or W to jump right at each canyon edge. Hold Space or the Down arrow to dive down the hills first, because a faster approach carries your jump farther across the gap.

Are the gaps always possible to clear?

Yes. Every gap is sized so a jump clears it, even at your slowest speed, and the jump is forgiving if you tap it a moment late off the edge. A fall means you did not jump, or jumped far too early, not that the gap was impossible.

Can I play it on my phone?

Yes. On a touch screen, use the jump button in the corner to leap the gaps, and tap and hold anywhere on the game to dive. There is no keyboard needed and nothing to install.

Is it free and does it work unblocked at school?

Yes. The game is free, needs no sign-up, and runs fully in your browser, so it plays the same on a school or work network as anywhere else. There is nothing to download. We are not a proxy, so if your network blocks this exact site we cannot get around that.
