Powder Rush is an endless downhill sledding game. Hold to dive down the snowy hills and build speed, launch off every crest, spin as many flips as you dare, and land pointing along the slope to keep your momentum. Miss the landing and you wipe out in the powder. There is no finish line, just how far you can ride before you fall.

It is a self-built game made by PlayClick, our own take on the downhill runner. It is not affiliated with any other sledding or snow game, and it uses our own rider and code. It runs right in your browser with no sign-up and no download, so it plays the same on a school Chromebook as it does at home.

How to play

The rider goes forever, and the whole game is one button. Hold dive to press into the hill and pick up speed on the way down. The steeper the drop and the longer you hold, the faster you go, and speed is everything here.

When the hill turns up into a crest, let the speed throw you into the air. While you are airborne, keep holding to spin a front flip, or hold the other key to flip back the other way. Every full flip you complete adds to your score and gives you a small speed boost on the way out.

The catch is the landing. You want to come down pointing roughly along the slope you are landing on. Land straight and you keep your speed and carry on. Land sideways or halfway through a flip and you wipe out, and the run is over. Distance is the score, so ride clean and ride far.

Controls

On a keyboard, hold Space or the Down arrow to dive and to front flip in the air. Hold the Up arrow (or W) to flip the other way. That is the whole control scheme, so it is easy to pick up in one run.

On a phone or tablet, tap and hold anywhere on the game to dive, or use the HOLD and FLIP buttons in the corner. There is nothing to install and no keyboard needed, so it works the same on a touch screen.

Because it is one button, the depth is all in timing: when to hold, when to let go for a launch, and when to stop spinning so you land straight.

Tips to ride farther

Speed comes from the descents, so hold dive all the way down every hill. Letting go on a downslope just slows you and costs you the next launch.

Release at the top of a crest, not before. If you launch too early you get a short, flat hop. Time it to the very top of the hill and you get a long, floaty jump with room to flip and still straighten up.

Only flip when you have height. A big launch off a steep crest gives you time to complete one or even two full flips and still level off for the landing. A small hop does not, so on short jumps just keep the sled straight and bank the distance. When in doubt, land flat and keep the run alive.

Scoring and your best run

Your score is the distance you cover, counted in meters, and your longest run is saved on your device so you can try to beat it. Clearing full flips and stacking air time add bonus points on top, so a stylish run scores more than a flat one over the same distance.

The gifts you grab on the hills tally up across every run, a lifetime counter that keeps climbing the more you play. They are there to pull you toward the risky high lines over the crests, where the longer launches are.

The hills also get taller and faster the farther you go, so a long run turns into a real test of nerve. Your best distance sits at the top of the screen the whole time, waiting to be beaten.

Questions and answers

What is Powder Rush?

It is a free endless sledding game where you ride a sled down never-ending snowy hills, launch off the crests, flip, and try to land clean. The score is how far you get before you wipe out. It is PlayClick's own game, not affiliated with any other sledding or snow game.

How do I control the sled?

It is one button. Hold Space or the Down arrow to dive and build speed, and keep holding in the air to front flip. Hold the Up arrow to flip the other way. On a phone, tap and hold anywhere on the game.

How do I go faster and farther?

Hold dive all the way down every hill to build speed, then release right at the top of a crest for a long launch. Only flip when you have enough height to straighten up again, and always land pointing along the slope so you keep your speed instead of wiping out.

Why do I keep wiping out?

You wipe out when you land sideways or in the middle of a flip. Come down pointing roughly along the slope you are landing on. On short hops, skip the flip and just keep the sled straight to bank the distance and stay alive.

Is it free and does it work unblocked at school?

Yes. The game is free, needs no sign-up, and runs fully in your browser, so it plays the same on a school or work network as anywhere else. There is nothing to download or install. We are not a proxy, so if your network blocks this exact site we cannot get around that.
